About Us

It all started fifteen years ago, a travelling chef met a skiing chalet girl on a year out in Courchevel. They bumped into each other on the slopes...literally!!!

As a newly formed team they left the slopes, found a little restaurant in Bradford on Avon, Wiltshire and made it their home. Three hard, very happy, years later the chalet girl pined for her Yorkshire roots and dragged her Lancastrian chef with her.

The Spice Box, Boston Spa was soon trading at full capacity and a good Yorkshire wedding soon ensued.

Wasting no time at all, Hamish Ross was born and another Spice Box in Harrogate came in quick succession.

Time to take a breath, they sold everything and took a year off. Fully recharged, the Lancastrian needed some action... The Bay Horse, Kirk Deighton was soon fully fledged, Jonty Alexander was delivered and closely followed up the rear by a quaint pub in Walton, called the Fox and Hounds.

The travelling chef wandered by The Crown Inn at Roecliffe, which was in a sad old state. Up for a challenge, this was to be their ‘Crowning' flagship moment and a six month refurbishment was set in motion. Running two pubs and project managing a major building project the chalet girl and chef decided they had produced a chef and a waiter and all they needed now was a dishwasher... Fergus Ambrose was born. The rest is history...
