Getting to know us:

our past,present and future

The Crown:

Built in the 16th Century, The Crown Inn, Roecliffe started out as a resting place for travellers journeying up and down the country. For generations it has been a part of the community, welcoming people from all walks of life. Over the years, The Crown Inn has had many owners with differing styles and visions.

The Custodians:

Now it is Joe and Sarah’s turn to take The Crown Inn forward. They took over the reins in April 2018 making the conscious decision to return to their home county of Yorkshire. After four decades of working and moving around the UK and Mainland Europe, experiencing various cultures and cuisine, and raising two children, they realised a dream in having their own fine dining establishment.

The Crown’s reputation is growing day-by-day with most of the clientele rating their experience 5* in online reviews and re-booking for both overnight stays & dining. The kitchen team are producing dishes worthy of high accolades – ‘better than Michelin starred restaurants’ as some recent diners commented! The work that has been done behind-the-scenes – although not obvious to the customers – is now having a positive impact and gives a good foundation for future development.

The desire is to create a busy, happy, thriving environment that delivers excellent service and quality for customers; attractive enough to socialise in, whilst providing a pleasant dining experience. A place that feels like a home from home with a touch of luxury.

The hope is that success will breed success and provide the opportunity for exciting and seasonal menu changes, upgrades to all the rooms and the introduction of a more diverse range of beers, gins, spirits and cocktails, whilst retaining the informal country charm and welcome the Inn is known for.

Joe, Sarah and their team are looking forward to your visit.
